Judge your neighbors – Nothing helps motivate me more than judging my neighbors as I walk through the neighborhood.   Judge the car they drive, if they take the trash can’s in on time, or anything else that can help boost your self-esteem.    You can step it up a notch if you record memos on your phone for future playback.

Scavenger Hunt for Trash –  Nothing makes a walk more enjoyable than picking up other people’s trash.   Not only can you build up a bit of resentment, you can also improve your neighborhood or hiking trail.      Grab a sack and make it a challenge to fill it up pieces of garbage left by some inconsiderate door knob that decided to chuck his Pabst Blue Ribbon can out the window on his way home from the bar.

Learn to BeatBox – Search Google Play/ Apple App Store for an app that will teach you to BeatBox and you’ll be learning a valuable skill while strolling your neighborhood.    When you return from you walk, present your new skills to your life partner, kids, or parents and show them how to throw down some “Boots & Cats”.

Reward yourself – Nothing beats a good walk like a nice reward, but it would totally defeat the purpose if you came home and slammed down a full box of Fruity Pebbles, so find a nice healthy treat that compliments your walk.
